Please join us for a Meet and Greet with Lorenzo Alexander and other Redskins in order to raise funds and awarness for the Watkins Award.  The Watkins Award is part of the various initiatives of the National Allaince of African American Athletes.  The funds we raise will be utilized to promote Academic excellence to inner city youth.

The Franklin D. Watkins Memorial Trophy Award was initiated in 1992 to promote academic excellence among young African-American males. As unavoidable role models on the "image" front lines, talented athletes-especially in football, basketball and baseball-define what the emerging generations of African-American males will value, and the aspirations they will have. The Watkins Trophy Award is a means for recognizing exceptionally talented African-American male athletes who, by their example, help promote high academic standards and a commitment to community service.  Since 1992, the top high school seniors have been honored with the title "Premiere African-American Male Scholar Athlete".  Watkins award honorees have included Lorenzo Alexander of the Washington Redskins, Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Myron Rolle, Rhodes Scholar, Marcedes Lewis of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Justin Blalock of the Atlanta Falcons, LaVar Arrington of the Washington Redskins, Shane Battier of the Miami Heat, Mohamed Massaquoi of the Cleveland Browns, Arrelious Benn of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jelani Jenkins of the University of Florida and Eric Reid of LSU.  These young men demonstrate that athletics can be balanced with academics.
